Aitutaki Beaches

One never has to go far to find a beautiful white sand beach in Aitutaki. The lagoon covers a vast area, and in addition to the main island of Aitutaki, is fringed with coral islets (motu), all of which have soft white sand beaches. Many of the motu are uninhabited so this is real Robinson Crusoe territory.

Most resorts and lodging is found on Aitutaki. The beaches on Aitutaki are mostly found on the western, sunset facing, side. There are some boutique luxury and mid-range resorts along that coastline, as well as smaller budget lodgings. More lodging can be found on the inner lagoon side, though this coastline has fewer beaches. However, the most popular activity is to take a lagoon cruise so one is never far away from a wonderful beach. Be escorted over the shallow, clear turquoise waters to a small motu and alight onto a deserted white sand beach. Snorkel in the lagoon and enjoy a picnic lunch. Imagine yourself as Robinson Crusoe, or imagine yourself as a competitor in Survivor Cook Islands!

In addition to Aitutaki, there is a luxury resort on the adjacent motu of Akitua. A smaller accommodation option is found on One Foot Island, previously an uninhabited island.
